In my current work, I explore two main themes. One focuses on capturing the delicate beauty of the world around us, whether it’s a simple flower or a breathtaking vista. Nature never ceases to amaze me, and I strive to share that wonder through my art. The other theme revolves around the concept of journeying, both mental and physical travels to distant lands or local locations. As a female artist, mother, and wife, I navigate the constraints and expectations placed upon me by both myself and society. These factors currently influence the scope of my physical explorations, leading me to focus on what is readily available and meaningful in my everyday life. Every aspect of this journey is valuable and shapes the narrative of my work.
I am fascinated by the transient nature of time, particularly how the changing of seasons acts as a visible, cyclical reminder of life’s impermanence. My work is a documentation of the seasons, capturing moments that seem fleeting yet are inherently profound in their repetition and subtle transformations. The passage of time is both a personal and universal experience, one that shapes everything from the landscape to the human condition.
My creative process involves collecting natural objects and visual inspiration during my journeys, which I then bring back to the studio to develop alongside memories that accompany them. I focus on capturing the ephemeral nature of these moments. I use natural materials and processes that are themselves subject to the passage of time, allowing my works to evolve and change in response to environmental and seasonal factors. I incorporate elements like sunlight into my process with my cyanotypes, making time itself a participant in the creative process.
I view my work as both a reflection and an interaction with the world—an exploration of what it means to exist in a constant state of flux. While I document the seasons, I am also contemplating my own relationship with time, memory and loss. In this process, the lines between observation and transformation blur. Just as the seasons are in constant flux, so too are we, yet we often fail to fully acknowledge the quiet, powerful shifts that occur in our own lives. By documenting the seasons, I am not only capturing the world around me but also creating a record of time passing, a clear reflection of the changes that occur in nature and in ourselves. Through my work, I encourage the viewer to pause and observe the small shifts in time, allowing space for quiet reflection on the simple yet powerful act of simply observing the passage of time.
